Debt – Being in Debt Like many of you I too believe we should use the Holy Bible as out guide in making “judgments” about the way we should walk in the flesh, as well as the spirit. Of course we don’t want to get hammered with accusations of be “legalist”. You know, those pesky people pushing us toward considering the Bible in our every day lives. You know, we should ignore the Old Testament, after all, its “old”, and bring in the “love” of the New Testament. We are warned, in various ways, of not demonstrating a love, a New Testament love for our fellow man, or in passing judgment on others, especially the less fortunate. We are not to judge and things like that. I am sure many of you have been held to such standards in you church or by other. What comes of this, of course, is a virtual abandonment of the Old Testament. Don’t let me confuse you -- I am not talking about bringing anyone back under the force of Old Testament Law, that battle has already been lost. If, however, we stand on the principles of the Scriptures – the principles – we will see a “vision” of how our Heavenly Father sees things. This in turn, as His children, will lead us in making the right decisions about matters concerning others and this leads to “expressed love” as well as and eventual attitude of love toward our fellowman. The bonus is -- we are then expressing an attitude of our Heavenly Father. The judgments (decisions) we make, based upon the words of the Bible are not ours but His, we are merely With that in mind why don’t we have a look at and attitude one should cultivate when it comes to giving or receiving money or some kind of support from a fellow Citizen in the Christ, YaHshua. |
