Living Your Life In YaHshua

Wouldn’t it be nice if there were ten points we could follow that would guarantee our salvation, too bad, but there isn't a one, two, three step approach.  Hey, you say, what about the Ten Commandments? Yes, the Ten Commandments, but I am sorry to say they will not save you.  Sure, following the Ten Commandments as your code would be very nice and would make you a good person to have as a friend or a neighbor – you would be a very righteous person, but still, no guaranteed salvation, others may even see you as a very holy person, a very spiritual person -- still this will not take you into eternal life.  Besides, most societies have the majority of these Commandments built into their governmental structure – usually the last six, and in times past, all TEN.  Law and order, in society, demands a system of laws, and in this system of laws you will find the all Ten in one form or another.  Order demands law and from law comes control, either good or bad.  From the Hebrews we receive the Ten Commandments delivered to them by Moses and to him from YHWH.   

The Ten Commandments in their purity are genius in scope and brevity – no one has ever been able to improve upon them.  Any nation that is a nation observes these ten points of conduct in some fashion -- even though they may apply the Four Commandments of worship to false gods, the last Six Commands are amazing in so much being said in so little words.  Every great mind given any kind of moral credit has observed these points in some fashion or other, teaching them, living by them.  Perhaps they did not call them the Ten Commandments but every moral teacher that has lived has delivered their wisdom in the light of the wisdom of these ten points.  The Ten Commandments, as delivered to the Israelites, are unique as the "author" is recorded as being a God claiming to be the God of Creation, the one and only YHWH (YaHWeH).  These Ten Rules of conduct, written by the very finger of the Living God, YHWH.  the governemental laws followed, which all Israel also accepted bringing the total commandments under the covenant the people agreed to 616.  Still, this is a far cry from the laws on the books of modern nation. 

Outside of the prophets of Israel all other wise men and gurus steal these rules to themselves, parading their wisdom before men, accepting the adulation of men for being so wise, so godly, accepting worship, even, but none say it is not their teaching, it is not their words, -- no, they claim the wisdom of our Creator as theirs own and at their lowest attribute these things of understanding to wood and stone.  These Ten Commandments (Laws) were and are present no matter whatn you may think.  they ahve been form the beginning and no society can reach its full hieght without some form of them entered into their civilian codes of rule.  These Ten (616) commandments may bring people into a righteous attitude and be blessed with a certain peace in their societies but still "salvation" of one's life into eternity is still out of reach.  Be you holy, or righteous, or a beggar, or a robber, salvation comes only one way, through one door, and it is not by anything you or I can do.   

Look at the Apostles of YaHshua they all spoke of another, not themselves – I am talking about their message, certainly they spoke about things they were doing and experiencing but their primary message was not about themselves. Of the Apostles only Paul had, what we would call, intellectual credentials.  While YaHshua was called “Rabbi”, meaning “Teacher”, we have no evidence He went to any schools or studied under any other of the Jewish scholars, at the temple, or any of the various Jewish Messianic sects – none, not one piece of proof, evidence, DNA (I’m joking) or anything that would connect our Savior with anything other than the normal contact a person of Jewish birth would have or experience.  What we do have is a record of His great wisdom and understanding that even stripped the religious leaders and scholars, and lawyers of His days in the flesh down to the bone, “…dead men’s bones…”  Some try to make the case He must have been an Essene, a community of bible believers gathered at Qumran and given credit for having authored the “Dead Sea Scrolls, but there is not one connection and never has been.  Neither He nor any of His disciples are mentioned in any of the writings of the Essene. 

No one has the right to steal the righteousness of our Creator as their own.  We see this happen within the Christian Community as in other religions including the Sacred Names Movement – many times it is the followers that put the self-proclaimed leaders on a pedestal and giving them titles like Prophet, or Apostle, or even Christ.  In such a case the only words that matter are those of the leader, or the “father”, as some call their chosen one. 

Yes, I believe, most of the Holy Name people are sincere but what usually happens is a type of elitism within which the sincere get sucked into a system centered around a central figure that has at times ended  with many damaged souls and sometimes ending in  death..  Even well inteneded ministers begin works in the desire to share the Gospel but all too often these ministers, sooner or later, see the work as their own and being human, cave into the adoration of their flock.  As things develop within a successful venture the wine of success becomes intoxicating, even when the success is only measured in hundreds.  We see the TV Evangelists and witness the gaudy displays of over indulgence and pleas for your money with promises of good luck in you life.  What should we learn form this?  Never give you life over to any man other than YaHshua, be dependant on His words and the Word of His Apostles (the foundation upon which the Church is built, Ephesians 2:20-22)

Once the truth about the Holy Name, the true Identity of our Savior, and our Heavenly Father, is understood and we begin our search for the other truths the Christian leaders have been keeping from us we usually come across a group here and there claiming it has it all and if you are not part of them you are to perish.  To my way of thinking all of the Sacred Names groups should all join together in the Spirit of our Lord YaHshua, minister and teachers from each trading locations from time to time helping each other grow and develop spiritually.  Wouldn’t that be nice, but alas, it is not to be.  So, it is up to you to decided, join not join or follow YaHshua and His words and use the information and the instructions you can glean from the Scriptures and from the various groups, as opposed to a single group, especially those claiming some kind of singularity.  You will soon see, by this method, that they are all wrong and do error in some way as of the Christian community, well, maybe not as much.

This is when many of us seek out those of like knowledge and quickly come across groups, here and there, attempting to return to the Holy bible in all things.  The problem comes when this group or that group begins to tell you how you have to live, how you must change your life style to another life style.  In other words, exchange one worldly life style for another.  It is assumed, after repentance, that you have change your outlook and your way of life to one of moral courage, to a life based upon the Ten commandments, not as a way to eternal life but to a style of life with the moral courage to say, I believe in the righteousness of our Creator’s personal Law – My salvation, however, is in YaHshua (John 10:9, John 14:6, Romans 10:4, Romans 10:9, Hebrews 9:28, 1 John 4:15, John 10:29, John 6:28-29,  )of the Living God or advanced to embracing the Two Great Commandments – so, what is left?  According to some, once you have been advanced into the revealed knowledge of YaHshua’s true identity, and how the name Jesus is of a modern invention, a deception running deep within the world and especially the Christian community – once you see this – you are then to come under the Old Covenant, they say and teach.  Some go so far as to be so Jewish in their actions as to wear style clothing.  The men stop shaving, the women begin to wear head coverings.

Is all of this wrong?  Well, no, it isn’t, especially for the new convert attempting to do what in their eyes is pleasing to Elohim (God).  Do you want to observe the Holy days, as opposed to the Christian Pagan Holi-days?  Then good for you as long as you do it for Him, to learn from Him.  If, however, you are bending to a certain pressure that you must do these things as a matter of salvation, or in order to be a part of the group then be cautious, very cautious, for no matter how well meaning there has been many having led many into error and some having become cultic in attitude and you begin to see the group taking the shape and form of the leader of that group.  If the leader sporting a bread then you see the men begin wearing beards.  Listen, my friends, it is not wrong to do these things, it is not wrong to seek a form of worship to honor the God the Bible.  What better way to honor our Creator than to observe His Sabbaths, His Holy Days as opposed to the pagan Christian days? 

My opinion is this.  To me every day is alike but I honor my God by my worship of Him and of His Son by my spirit and I do set aside the Sabbath day as a special time of recognition but not as being bound to that day nor any other day.  I freely worship as I walk about in this life, conversing with my Creator and my Savior on a daily base.  The Old Covenant has no authority over me and I realize there is more to the Hebrew Scriptures than the Covenant and I keep in mind YaHshua said He did not come to nullify the Law nor the Prophets, but to do them.  The problem is that many have associated the Covenant with Israel as all to eh Hebrew Scriptures when it is not.  The Old Covenant, made with the Israelites, was not and is not a nullifying of the Law or the Prophets.  He said He came to “fulfill” and that is not finished (Mt 5:17-18), for, He tells us it will not pass away until Heaven and earth passes.  By this we know the Law and the Prophets is still active – Heaven and earth – still here. 

Here is where the rub come in, when one speaks of the Law what is he talking about?  Many in and out of the Sacred Names Movement say it is the keeping, observing, all of the “civil laws” of the Israelite government.  Of course they could not be talking bout modern Israel as they are a very secular government.  You see, there is the Law of God, the Law of Love, remember the Two Great Commands?  Ant then there is the “civil laws” by which the ancient nation of Israel had been instructed to conduct themselves.  These laws are certainly good for us to know and to see how perfect they were in administering the affairs of the ancient nation.  We learn from these laws how the people of Israel benefited from simple things like which foods to eat and which food not to eat – they, as a nation, enjoy a physical health and survival birth rate the Gentile nation only wondered about and some even desire to become a part of.  Contrary to popular thought, the gentiles of then could join with Israel if they agreed to live by the same laws and to conduct themselves as an Israelite then, even though they were aliens, were to be given all the rights of citizenship. 

I know, I know, you want the points to live by so you can be right with God, the God of the Bible - - well, you have come to the wrong guy.  I cannot tell you how to live, I can only tell you what I have found in the Holy Bible.  If I say anything that makes sense it is because I have found the words in the Scriptures, if any wisdom come out of what I write it has been written before.  

The Scriptures, contrary to popular belief, is not that complicated, it is what it is, it says what it says, and if you believe, as a small child might, that it is the words of out Creator, the Living God, and of our Savior YaHshua then you should have no problem getting y ou life in order.  It is men and some women that confuse things – how else do you explain over 450 various religious organizations all disagreeing on doctrine but holding the same book in their hands and they all say, the “bible tells me so”.  This teacher then that teacher will pull and push you around enough and one day you will wake up and realize you hare right back where you started, some sooner thatn others.  Sometimes a convert’s revival depends on the religious leader they follow being exposed as a liar, a cheat, a whore monger, a homosexual or some such other thing.  

We have two teachers, YaHshua, and our Heavenly Father and we have their text book written in a language we can understand by authors of our own species as representatives of our Savior and our Father. 

I will give you my own opinions, if you like, but that is not the main purpose of my Web Site, it is not to build a following or to sya to you that you must do as I do or do not.  It is not for me to tell you how you should live.  What I know today I thought I knew many, many years ago.  If I were to go back to answer these few question about how you should live, I would have given different answers, so perhaps now is a good time to examine, or reexamine, some of these things, stepping outside of the Ten Commandments, in a sense, to mention things like baptism, Holy Days, Sabbaths (Yes, one of the Ten), but for the most part you already know that even though you have accepted the Messiah you are not the only person on earth to attempting to live a righteous life.  Many pagans, heathens and atheists live moral lives and like it or not, in so doing, follow the path of the Ten.

You know of the Ten Commandments but have you heard of the Two commandments?  There are two commandments that override the Ten and as followers of YaHshua we should be aware of these Two Commandments as they replace the Ten, well, sort of.  Let’s explore this before we get to the other pressing things such as baptism and living as a Jew might live.  Please do not be offended if you are already living a Kosher life as that is you right, as a Christian, as a New Testament follower, that is your right and I in no way want anyone to think I am trashing this life choice.  I once was a follower of the Jewish way but see things differently now.  I changed when I was left with only the Words of my God and my Savior YaHshua to teach me.

Ten Commandments or Two Commandments?

(Mat 19:16)  And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

(Mat 19:17-19)  And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,  Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

 There is no doubt about which laws our Savior is speaking, He even mentions a few, and all are part of the Ten.  Of course all Christians and others using the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures as the authority in their lives understand the importance of the Ten Commandments.  What is strange is YaHshua seems to be telling the young man that “eternal life” comes by keeping the Ten Commandments. You could be real picky and say that He was only speaking of the Commandments He mentioned, the six, excluding the four commandments honoring the Creator and God of Israel.  Just observe the six and you have “life”.  But wait, the young man asking the question says he has done all those things -- that is when our Savior says – “YaHshua said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.”  (Mat 19:21) 

 Here we go from “life” to being “perfect”.  There is a lot of scholarly comments and teaching surround this exchange.  What is my opinion?  Well, the young man was not asking about “eternal life” as is supposed by most commentators, but about living the “perfect life” of an Israelite.  This is why YaHshua then says, (I paraphrase) “Okay, then if it is perfection you want, then go sell all you have and give it to the poor…” 

 If we take a different meaning from this, applying this teachings as the answer to gaining “eternal life”,  a grantee  to “eternal life” then you must keep the six commandments from youth and then sell all you have as did the young man.  You can see what a vicious circle you can end up in, if you qualify and how you are on the outs if not.  Let’s put this in perspective -- the timing of this exchange should be seen as pre-crucifixion and YaHshua was answering a question under the Law, which all Israelites were bound to observe if they were to be considered living a righteous life – remember, YaHshua had not yet given His life for all of us, the sacrificial system and the Temple still figured in to the agreement (covenant) the Israelites had made with their God.  The young man was looking for a pat on the back, perhaps, and bragged about having done all that was required and this is when the inspired genius of our Savior gives the final answer – “…then sell all you have and give it to the poor…”, stunned the young man fades away, not as righteous as he thought.

 This is not the only time YaHshua was challenged when it came to the question of “life” eternal or otherwise. 

 The Pharisees Fear Not

 The brave Pharisees hear of their religious competitors, the Sadducees, being silence by this young Rabbi, YaHshua, and decided they could do better.  They laid out a plan and in their victory they would show the Sadducees and everyone they were the most intelligent and scholarly of the formal religious institutions – they were most certainly the chosen teachers and leaders of the people. 

(Mat 22:34-40)  But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.  Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

 Wow, that’s my guy, my Savior and I want to brag about Him.  We see YaHshua not only silencing the “lawyer”, backed by his troop of religious authority, but unveiling the perfection in the Law.  Not in the Law the Jews and the Israelites worshiped but something deeper.  He, YaHshua, exposed the spiritual intent of the Law – He literally expanded it.  You can just picture the Pharisees nodding their heads in approval as YaHshua recites the Love for God (EL) but what follows is once again a stunner, “…love your neighbor as yourself…”?  They are accused and crushed at the same time.  This remarkable statement by our savior gives me chills. 

People speak of how hard it is to keep the Law, and it is, if you have ever tried to keep the whole Law, the whole of the Old Covenant you know what I am speaking about -- you will surely see the deep need for our Savior --  the Law is not nullified nor abolished -- YaHshua’s expansion of the understanding -- the spiritual meaning of the Law and its application is really much harder. Keep the Ten Commandments, even the Christians teach this, but love you neighbor as your self?  That is tough, having a love and concern for those not of you own family?  This was not the Jewish way.  I, myself, struggle with this, the washing of pots and pans, avoiding unclean meats is easy, honoring the Sabbath are all easy by comparison.  You can have heart felt sympathy for others not so fortunate but wait until you run across a neighbor or an acquaintance determined to make your peaceful life as miserable as theirs is.  In the day YaHshua walked this earth the less fortunate were on very corner, at every gate, and were not considered as neighbors – remember the parable about the good Samaritan?

 It is not merely  the Ten Commandments delivered to the people of Israel but many others which the Jews considered the “whole Law” and as some have noticed is actually 616 Laws all totaled. 

Read verses 41-46, (Mathew 22) when YaHshua asked His question about whom the Messiah is and we see how the Pharisees and all others round about dared not ask Him another question.  This had to have been an amazing moment, a spectacular moment, one of those times everyone talks about when they  returned home for dinner or go to a friends for the BBQ, the topic of conversation – how this young Rabbi silenced the Sadducees and the Pharisees, the lawyers, the scholars and scribes -- we can see the jealously of these religious leaders of a time when they became afraid of Him and sought to kill Him.

Here is the thing, the life our Lord and Savior, YaHshua, wants us to live is not our own, not anymore and this is the struggle we all have and will continue to have until the day we are changed.  Our righteousness is not long ours to claim, if you do what is right it is YaHshua in you so the credit is not yours -- you have not bragging rights.  The Jews of that day had no problem hating, they used the Scriptures of the Old Testament to discriminate and to kill in righteous fits of righteousness, which is what they used to crucify our Lord.  YaHshua had just told the Pharisees and the world, now, to love your fellow man. 

The biggest thing is that as a believer along with trying to honor these Two Commandants is to realize they are not Laws of Salvation but are guides, for human behavior – a guide we should all strive to live by.  Our Salvation, on the other hand, is totally rapped up in the LIFE of YaHshua.  To help put this in perspective we need to consider a few verses from the teachings of His Apostles meant for the followers and Believers in YaHshua.  The tone is no longer under the Jewish system, under the Laws of Moses -- we are living in the Times of the Gentiles, not the times of the Jews and while this is true we must understand the Law of the Living God has never been abolished.  YaHshua said He did not come to destroy the Law, nor the Prophets and these two represent what we call the Old Testament, the first five books (Torah) containing the Law and all its facets and the last books composed of the writings of the Prophets.  It is easy to see, when you read the Prophets, that much of what they have written has not yet come to pass, not finished, not finally fulfilled.   

 (Mat 5:17)  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

 (1Jn 2:3-7)  And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.  He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.  But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.  He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

 (1Jn 2:7-12)  Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.  He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.  He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.  But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.  I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

 The Church of YaHshua has two parts, the Jewish part and the Gentile part.  YaHshua never told the Jews to ignore the Law and His Apostles never told the Jews that either, theydid, however, instruct the Gentiles in living a moral life but never insisted they live the Jewish way, by the “civil laws” the Jews were born into.  He, YaHshua, did, however, accuse the Jewish religious leaders of making the Law of no effect, of nullifying the Law by their own traditions (Mat 15:6).   

 When  Gentile converts began to grow in number and a conflict was created concerning the Gentile obligation to observe the Jewish Law and insisted they be circumcised, as were all Jews at birth,  a panic struck the newly converted to YaHshua.  Paul and Barnabas had had enough and set up an agreement among the Jewish Elders to go to Jerusalem and seek a decision from the Christian Council headed by James (Yames), the brother of YaHshua. 

Read Acts 15 for the full account, no where is it suggested the Gentiles should live as the Jews.  The “restoration” of Israel is spoken of as something to come, the Gentiles as spoken of as part of the prophetic plan.  Even Simon Peter is there and his earlier experience with Gentiles converts is mentioned and along with Paul and Barnabas testimony we see a “two witness” authority of the decision James comes to –

    (Act 15:20-21)  Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. For Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath."

     What do we see missing from this?  From the earliest times Moses is preached and every Sabbath Moses is read, meaning the Law.  The decision made was not to abolish the Law or Moses, as James is making it plain, Moses is preached from the earliest times so is not contested among the Jews.  You see, the Jews saw the influx of the gentiles into the Church as a threat to the Law, to Moses, to their heritage as Children of Israel.  The only restraints or obligations placed on the Gentile converts are clearly spelled out and not to be considered a threat by the Jewish converts of upsetting their way of life.  The gentiles are basically instructed to live healthy, moral lives.  The final answer, for the Gentiles and the thing that started this meeting of the Jerusalem Council, the male gentiles did not have to undergo “circumcision”, they had obviously been accept equally with the Israelite convert.   The part about telling the Gentiles stay away from food (food, get it, food, does not mean meat only) polluted by idols later led to an exchange and teaching usually taken out of context by those lusting after pig flesh – 1 Corinthians 8:10-13  -- but that is another subject.

 Jew or Gentile?

You need to decide who you are?  Are you a Jew?  Do you live as a Jew?  Are you a Gentile?  Are you a Gentile, desiring to be a Jew?    Perhaps you are a Gentile claiming to be a Jew – and there is the rub – as we read a warning given, not once but twice.

 (Rev 2:9)  I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

 (Rev 3:9)  Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

 That is two warnings, two witnesses, if you will, and you should take this very serious as these words come from our Savior YaHshua as recorded by the Apostle John.  Those who say they are Jews and are not?  How would a Gentile do that?  My guess would be, join with someone trying to reconstitute the Old Covenant and style of life meant for the Israelites, attempting a restoration of the old system, perhaps insisting you have to live a an Israelite.  There are some going so far as to dress as they think a Jew should dress, using the prayer shawl, covering their heads in prayer (1 Cor 11:4), wearing garments with phylacteries (fringe like tassels on the boarder, or corners of a cloak or coat) (Mat 23:5), and to the growing of beards, all customs and tradtions not meant for the Gentiles.    

 There will be a ‘restoration” but not by men but by YaHshua when He returns, then there will be no doubt as to Israel’s position in our Creator’s plan, for us and for all the people of Israel.   James makes mention of this too, in calming the Jewish converts toward their Gentile brothers and sisters, reminding them of their future and the promised “restoring of Israel” under David (Acts 15:16).

 Read the instructions to the Ephesians, which I quote below, and take care in your approach to groups trying to convince you you must be a Jew first.  Some use this knowledge of Yahshua as Messiah to make a connection with His Jewish heritage claiming we shouls all live as He lived.  YaHshua and His Apostles never taught this, they taught that we should walk as He walked.  Walking with God, with YaHshua or our Heavenly Father is a moving forward, one step before th other in a concept so great as to be able to believe we can walk and talk with our God in our everyday lives.  YaHshua was raised a Jew and lived in a Jewish household.  We have already read what is to be and not to be laid upon Gentile converts – they were not told to live as a Jew.  To walk as the Messiah is a life style that fits all moral life styles whether you are from India, China, Russia, Japan, Europe, England or the United States – walking at peace with all men.

 For the most part, we are Gentiles, certainly there are those of lost ancestry with blood lines tracing back to the nations of Israel but this is for our Creator to sort out and He will.  Reading the instructions and teachings to the Ephesians perhaps we can see our way a little better. 

(Eph 2:8-12)  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ YaHshua to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)-- remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.

  (Eph 2:13-16)  But now in Christ YaHshua you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace,  and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.

 (Eph 2:17)  He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.  Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ YaHshua himself as the chief cornerstone.  In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.  And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
