Homosexuality

Why is it so many people are so stupid about "homosexuality" -- me included. It is one thing to say, God is against it, I'm against it and so should everyone else. So, there, the answer, simple, right? Not so fast.

Recently I was having a conversation with a friend and his wife. He is a Christian but does not study the word, and does not read the bible but has a lot of opinion. His wife reads the bible and goes to bible classes and never miss Sunday mass. So, somehow the topic came up about what the bible says about homosexuals. My friend said, "The bible says it is an abomination, and so it is". His wife said, "It does not say any such thing. The bible says we are to love all people".

Let's see, the bible ready, go to church on Sunday Christian is certain the bible does not condemn homosexuals while her husband says otherwise, and he does not read the bible, he just knows it. They both then looked at me and asked, "Well, Dan, what do you think"?

Yes, Dan, what do you think. One thing I know, most people do not like it when you break the Bible out and say, "Let's see what the Bible says".

(1Co 6:9-10) Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

(1Co 6:11) And such were some of you: but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord YaHshua the Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

(Rom 1:26-27) For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due. KJV

(Rom 1:27) In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. NIV

(Rom 1:29) They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, Slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. NIV

(Lev 18:22) Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

(Lev 20:13) If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

(Deu 18:10-12) There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. KJV

Yes, the Bible does refer to homosexuality as an ABOMINATION, as is adultery, insolence, arrogant boasting, consulting with those that consult familiar spirits, liars, those that practice witchcraft, a necromancer (That is to worship the dead, inquiring help from the dead -- this is Something Catholics are deeply involved in as they pray to the dead, those they call saints).

The point here is the view our creator has, not what we "think" --

(Luke 16:15) And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

It would seem what we think does not count for much. His Word is true and it is His opinion we should ultimately consult and trust. Homosexuality is condemned in the Old Testament as an "abomination", as are many other sins. In the New Testament it is a perversion and those practicing perversion and any abomination as demonstrated by the attitude of our Creator by His words to us, will have no part in the Kingdom of God.

(Rev 21:27) And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

My gentleman friend was correct but not for the reason he was aware of. How could he know what the bible said if he never reads it? He couldn't, he merely knew he was against it so God had to be against it too. His loving wife, on the other hand, reads her bible but see only what makes her feel good. To her thinking only the best of people is the answer. This kind of tolerance leads to those committing "abominations" to stay seated in the Church, to over look what our Creator hates and say it is alright, maybe even good. This would lead us to being enablers of the sinful nature. My friend having no desire to read the bible, to look into these things has become a law unto himself, may even a god, as he worships what he thinks.

You see, they are both wrong, they have a flawed approach to God and His Word. Naturally we know what is wrong and what makes us feel uncomfortable but we do not all feel the same way, or think what is wrong for you is wrong for me. With this uncertainty humans will eventually forget about the true God and Creator, and begin to worship thing of wood and stone, nature, the created thing instead of the Creator. Christians exercises a kind of self-righteousness in over looking "abominations" (Biblical sin, our Creator's attitude toward such things), even to the point of being pressured not to "judge" and in this allowing those individuals in their midst. Have you ever heard the old saying, one bad apple will spoil the whole barrel? It is true, and there is several places in the bible we are told not to have anything to do with such that would live in denial and worse, claiming they are loved by God, the Very God that inspired the scriptures we just read.

What did my friend say when I told them the word "abomination" is in the Bible and can be connected to the act of homosexuality? He grunted he did not need me to tell him that. What about his wife? She promptly backed up and said it might say that but we are to love everyone. She confuses love with permission.

Homosexuality is an "abomination" and a "perversion" just like other sins of lust, greed, and worshiping dead people. Such practices should not be allow within the Church.

The God of Israel, the God of the Gentiles, our God told the Israelites to be "perfect" (Deut 18:12) and in the context of His instructions to them we see the perfection is in staying away from certain things, things this world deems as alright, or just part of life. Lying and cheating and adultery and homosexual activity is not alright and must not be a part of your being. Remember 1 Cor 6:11, "And such were some of you" -- please dear friends, notice, "were", not "are some of you", past tense.

Any Christian that tries to tell you it's alright and not to such things is not a Christian. The Spirit is not guiding such as they go through life doing and thinking what makes them feel good. They may be sincere, but they are sincerely wrong. Remember, one rotten person can cause those that would hang with them to become rotten also. There is not one command in all of the Bible that tells followers of the Christ to hang out with those practicing "abominations" of any kind. How many Christians seek out those that consult with the dead, or practice praying to the dead, or excuse the poor homosexuals born that way?

It is only the people of the Living God that are told to come out of Babylon but all too many churches, church organizations and various other religious groups allow such tolerance, such self-righteousness to rule the day, to rule their lives. If they are willing to such big things slide how much more the little things. We have a struggle on our hands, a battle against our own flesh, a battle against spirits and principal in high places, seen and unseen. Satan would have us all crumble into a submissive bag of bones, dry and empty save our feelings.

The next time someone speaks in a permissive way, a tolerant approach to "abominations" don't be afraid to call it what it is -- SIN! Don't worry so much about condemnation, the God haters have been condemned already and the pretenders too. Remember, you have a pretty good foundation to stand on, the Rock of your Salvation, YaHshua. What you fail at He is sure to give you victory. When you read and study your Bible, know that it is the Father and the Son talking to you.
