Savior called A Liar?
Jewish Calling -- Jewish Gospel |
You need to read the whole Context Here is the KJV of the scriptures giving the account so often mentioned, in part, by those wanting to "nullify" the word of God. Please notice, this is exactly what YaHshua is accusing the teachers and preacher of the law as doing. By their traditions they were "rejecting" the truth of the word. This teaching, used by the pig eaters and other heathens do just that, reject the word of God so they can satisfy the flesh. From the very first, verses 1-5, we see the subject is not about clean and unclean meats but about "traditions of the elders" having to do with ceremonial things, nothing about meats. Reading on you will see this is not a literal teaching, as some, say, again ignoring His words for we see in verse 17 that this is a parable, it is not a literal teaching saying "nothing is unclean", this is a false teaching, and there is a higher meaning. As you continue reading you will see YaHshua giving the true meaning of this parable to His disciples. It is all about your mind, your thoughts and how you act on them. Read the context, read the context and read the context. After th KJV reading I have also supplied the NIV translation, and you can see how the translators of that version have twisted what should be the plain teaching of our Lord, by adding into the text (verse 19, last part) a statement that does not belong in the text -- they have added to the words, "In saying this, Jesus declare all meats clean" -- In their minds this is what their savior said, but YaHshua, my Savior did not. This is very deceptive, and a crooked thing to do and is especially damaging to the newly converted. Read these verse yourself and take notes, go verse by verse and see if you can find where YaHshua ever says he is talking about animal meat -- He does mention "bread" and He does mention the Law but nithing about the Law being abolished or "nullified" other than what the Church leaders were doing and teaching by their own traditions. (Mar 7:1-5) Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem. And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault. For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders. And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables. Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?(Mar 7:6-9) He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teachingfordoctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, asthe washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.(Mar 7:10-13) For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother,It isCorban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;he shall be free. And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.(Mar 7:14-16) And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every oneof you,and understand: There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.(Mar 7:17) And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.(Mar 7:18) And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, itcannot defile him; Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. NIV (New International Version)(Mar 7:1) The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus and(Mar 7:2) saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were "unclean," that is, unwashed.(Mar 7:3) (The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders.(Mar 7:4) When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles. )(Mar 7:5) So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, "Why don't your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with 'unclean' hands?"(Mar 7:6) He replied, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: " 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.(Mar 7:7) They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.'(Mar 7:8) You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."(Mar 7:9) And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!(Mar 7:10) For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.'(Mar 7:11) But you say that if a man says to his father or mother: 'Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is Corban' (that is, a gift devoted to God),(Mar 7:12) then you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother.(Mar 7:13) Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that."(Mar 7:14) Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen to me, everyone, and understand this.(Mar 7:15) Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.' "(Mar 7:17) After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable.(Mar 7:18) Are you so dull? he asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'?(Mar 7:19) For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")(Mar 7:20) He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' (Mar 7:21-23) For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.' " |
